# Applications in the Didit Console: Live and Sandbox

> An application in the Didit Console holds your API keys, webhooks and workflows. Learn how Live and Sandbox work and where to manage each one.

An application in the Didit Console is the unit that holds your API keys, webhooks, workflows and verification data.
Every organization has one or more applications, and each one comes as a **Live** and a **Sandbox** environment.

| Environment | What it is for | Billing |
| - | - | - |
| **Live** | Real verifications for your users. | Each verification is billed at your plan price. |
| **Sandbox** | Testing every feature with test identities. | Free and unlimited. Nothing is billed or sent to your users. |

API keys belong to one application and one environment, so a Sandbox key never creates a billed verification.
See [API keys](https://docs.didit.me/console/api-keys.md) and [Sandbox testing](https://docs.didit.me/integration/sandbox-testing.md).

## Switch between applications and environments

The application switcher at the top of the sidebar shows the current application and its environment.
Open it to pick another application or to switch between **Live** and **Sandbox**.

## See all applications

Open **Settings > Organization > Applications** to see every application of the organization.
Select one to open its settings.

## Application settings

An application's settings hold the configuration that belongs to that application:

* **General.** The application name, logo and default settings.
* **App labels.** The tags you use to organize users, businesses and sessions, and the event type catalogs, which define the activity types and transaction actions available in the application.
* **API keys and webhooks.** Manage them under **Developers**: see [API keys](https://docs.didit.me/console/api-keys.md) and [Webhooks](https://docs.didit.me/integration/webhooks.md).
* **Redirects and domains.** The allowed domains for hosted verification links: see [Redirect URLs and allowed domains](https://docs.didit.me/console/api-keys.md#redirect-urls-and-allowed-domains).
* **Data retention.** How long Didit stores this application's verification data: see [Data retention](https://docs.didit.me/console/data-retention.md).

Viewing applications needs the `applications` read permission, which every console role holds: see [Roles and permissions](https://docs.didit.me/console/roles-permissions.md).
